Stay And Sail In Victoria BC
|
|
SUNDAY
We will
arrange for your airport pickup and get you settled aboard
"Canada Goose". We'll go over a few of the boat systems. Tonight,
you will spend your first night aboard, listening to the
sound of the ocean lapping against the hull. In
the meantime, it's fun to stroll downtown on Sunday night. There is plenty
to see. Watch our street performers like "Red the Juggler" and
"Plaster Man". If you are arriving by car, there is
parking available at the dock for two or three dollars a day.
|
|
MONDAY
Skipper Dave will arrive
with a bunch of fresh muffins and croissants.
You'll get introduced so some
safety equipment such as flares, first-aid kits, and lifejackets.
We'll review boat systems and boat parts. We'll
prepare the boat for sailing and head out for the day.
When we return to the dock, and you can go out for a great
dinner, or cook aboard if you prefer. But don't forget,
there is some reading to be done and knots to be tied.

TUESDAY
Again, a hearty breakfast to start your day. We'll
do our morning "whiteboard" lessons, including all
the points of sail that you learned yesterday.
We'll spend the rest of the day sailing. You will
get lots of "tiller time", and, by the way,
you won't hear any yelling aboard "Canada Goose" .....
we just don't do that!

coming along. Crew overboard, reefing, and an
introduction to coastal navigation will be the topics for the day. We will give some serious attention to all that
we have learned so far. Lots of questions
and answers. Don't forget, tomorrow is exam day.
Your exams will take a couple of hours to

FRIDAY
Exam Day! We'll write our two exams (Basic Sailing and
PCOC) exams after a review of everything we have learned
this week. Afterwards, we can head out for a fun
sail and return to the dock a little early, because
tonight, the skipper is doing the cooking!
Skipper
Dave will grab some big, fat, juicy steaks and a few
fresh skewered prawns and cook 'em up on the BBQ.
We can have a little
"cockpit time" (a very special
event on EVERY sailboat). We'll just "sit
about" and watch a few seaplanes take off and share a
few laughs. Why, we might even dig out "Jenny" for
a few Irish songs on the dock! We
can laugh at our mistakes and brag about our
accomplishments. It's been a wonderful adventure.
You can then "check out" and head on home, or, better
yet, why not stay a few more days and wander around our
lovely city? Whatever you choose, be sure to make time for a nice, hot bath...

...you deserve it, Sailor!
